About

Independent bank comparisons, updated monthly with real data

BankCompare.co publishes independent, honest comparisons of business checking, personal checking, high-yield savings and CD rates. It's for anyone opening or switching a bank account who wants the numbers laid out plainly, without a sales pitch.

What we compare

Four account types, each with its own page in the top navigation, so you're never more than one click from the table you need. The business checking comparison puts Novo, Mercury, Relay, Bluevine and others side-by-side, with an eye on no-fee accounts built for freelancers, startups and small businesses. The personal checking page focuses on free accounts with features like early direct deposit.

Our methodology

Comparisons are updated monthly with real data, and the date of the last refresh is printed on the page so you know how fresh the numbers are. We include banks with and without affiliate relationships, because a comparison that only lists the banks that pay us wouldn't be a comparison. The full methodology is linked from the home page and explains how we evaluate accounts.

The result is meant to be read in ten minutes and acted on, not browsed: a short list of accounts, the rate or fee that matters for each, and a link to the bank.

How we're paid, and what it doesn't change

Our advertiser disclosure sits on the home page and is worth repeating here. Some of the products featured on this site are from partners who compensate us. That may influence which products we write about and where they appear on the page, but it does not affect our evaluations. Our opinions are our own.

Who it's for

A freelancer who needs a business account with no monthly fee. A household moving savings out of an account paying almost nothing. Someone about to lock in a CD rate who wants to see the alternatives first. A small business tired of paying for features it doesn't use. Each of them has one question, and each category page is built to answer it.

What we are not

We are not a financial advisor. Nothing on BankCompare.co is a recommendation for your particular situation; it's a comparison of published account terms so you can make the decision yourself. FDIC insurance details are per institution, and rates change between our monthly updates, so verify directly with the bank before opening an account.

If you spot a rate or fee that's out of date, the contact page is the quickest way to tell us.
